Yates National Gardening League
The National Gardening League (NGL) was designed as a bespoke web app experience that transformed Yates's Click & Grow® product launch into Australia’s newest sporting competition. The core UX/UI challenge was translating the traditionally mundane process of lawn care into an engaging, gamified platform. The resulting design featured streamlined submission flows, allowing novice gardeners to easily enter their 'athlete' lawns for judging, supported by dynamic leaderboards and robust tracking mechanisms that positioned Yates at the forefront of modern digital engagement.

The initial phase of the NGL project centred on robust UX strategy, meticulously mapping the customer journey to ensure a seamless transition from novice gardener to competitive athlete. Defining the competition mechanics, from entry criteria to leaderboard scoring, was paramount in establishing the web app's credibility as a national sport.

To enhance the gamification and streamline onboarding, the design integrated an AI-assisted feature allowing entrants to quickly generate unique competitive identities and user names, reinforcing the playful, high-stakes sporting ecosystem built around Yates's Click & Grow.
